Midwinter in Sweden is a magical time – daylight is limited, but the nights are lit by the reflections of the snow. Midwinter Magic at the Husky Lodge is a new private multi-activity experience based at comfortable accommodation at the Husky Lodge for groups of 2-6 persons, ideal for a private romantic winter break for couples or for small groups of friends.

Over 5 days you have the chance to go snowshoeing and ice fishing and to mush your own team of Siberian Huskies through the winter landscape before returning to the cosy comfort of the Husky Lodge to reflect on the day’s adventures.

Ski Touring and Winter Mountaincraft – details for 2010 now published

If you have some previous experience of cross-country skiing/ski touring and would like to raise the level of challenge, Ski Touring and Winter Mountaincraft in Jämtland may be the ideal experience for you.

For 2010, the tour will be offered as a private guided experience for groups of min. 4 persons on dates by arrangement between February and April. Accommodation is based on winter camping, but it is also possible to choose accommodation in mountain cabins along the route if you prefer.

In addition to experiencing one of Sweden’s finest winter mountain regions, you will have the chance to learn winter mountain skills from your expedition guide, who will cover topics such as navigation, safety and how to erect a tent in high winds using a storm simulator.

Snowshoeing in Wolverine Country – details for 2010 now published

Information for our Snowshoeing in Wolverine Country for the winter 2010 season has now been published.

For 2010, this unique guided snowshoeing adventure featuring wild camping in the wilderness reserve of the Vålå Valley in Jämtland in north-west Sweden will be available as a private experience for groups of minimum 4 persons. Optimum time for winter camping is between February and April.

In the company of an experienced expedition guide, you will head out to discover one of Sweden’s most beautiful reserves, camping wild in the snow along the way. No previous snowshoeing experience is required, but you should be in good health and used to summer camping and walking with a pack.

Siberian Husky Dogsled Adventure – new tour added

Combining comfortable accommodation at the Husky Lodge with dog sledding day tours and a 2-day mountain expedition, our new Siberian Husky Dogsled Adventure is the ideal combination for those seeking a mix of comfort and challenge.

The forests and lakes surrounding the Husky Lodge are ideal dog sledding country. You will be given full instruction in how to handle your team of Siberian Huskies before heading out to discover this beautiful region by dogsled. Once you have gained your confidence, you will head up into the mountains for a 2-day expedition with one overnight in mountain cabin along the route, before returning to the cosy comfort of the Husky Lodge to reflect on your mushing adventures.

With small groups of max. 4 persons, this is an intimate and personal dog sledding holiday available on the following scheduled dates: 15.02-21.02.10, 19.03-24.03.10, 29.12.09-03.01.10 (special New Year tour). Additional dates can also be added on request from min. 2 persons.

This new dogsledding adventure is the latest addition to our portfolio of mushing holidays in Sweden, which has been completely revised for the 2009/2010 winter season. Self-guided canoeing from cabin base in Smaland – new tour added

Combining the freedom and adventure of self-guided canoeing with the comfort and convenience of cabin accommodation, our new Canoeing from Forest Cabin in Småland is and ideal summer experience for groups of minimum 4 persons.

Each morning your host will meet you for transfer to the start point for your day’s paddling on the lakes and rivers of Småland. You will be provided with lunch to enjoy outdoors along the way. In the afternoon you will be met at an agreed end point for transfer back to your cabin accommodation, where you host will prepare and serve your evening meal while you relax and discuss the day’s adventures and make plans for tomorrow.

This is a uniquely flexible canoe tour allowing you to choose your level of challenge and the distance covered in day in consultation with your host, who knows the local area intimately. The experience is available for 4 or more days on dates by arrangement for min. 4 persons between May and September.

Husky Mountain Expedition in Lapland – new tour added

A mountain variation on our 8-day Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland tour, the Husky Mountain Expedition is a new, challenging but accessible husky sledding expedition across the roof of Lapland in northern Sweden.

Start dates for the experience are Wednesdays from 3^rd to 31^st March 2010, with the season culminating in a special extended 12-day tour with a full 10 days’ dog sledding through the Lapland mountain wilderness!

Each night you will stay in a mountain cabin along the route, some with sauna to soothe those tired mushing muscles. You will be working closely with your own team of Siberian Huskies as you journey through some of Sweden’s most spectacular mountain landscape, including following the world-famous King’s Trail for a section of the route.

For dog sledding in Lapland earlier in the season, when temperatures and conditions can be harsh in the mountains, our Northern Lights Dog Sledding tour takes you through the lowland forests and across the frozen rivers and lakes of this unique wilderness area at a time of year ideal for seeing the spectacular displays of the Aurora Borealis.

Mushing in the Mountains – new tour added

For those seeking a challenging shorter dog sledding tour combined with winter camping, our new 5-day Mushing in the Mountains experience is the ideal solution.

From your base at the Husky Lodge in Jämtland in north-west Sweden, you will lead your team of 4 Siberian Huskies into the Jämtland mountains for 3 days of dog sledding and wild camping in the wilderness. If you prefer, it is also possible to spend one night under canvas and one night in mountain cabin during your tour.

The period between mid-February and mid-April is the optimum time for dog sledding with winter camping in this area. Scheduled dates for Mushing in the Mountains dogsledding tours for the 2010 winter season are 09.02-13.02.10 and 06.04-10.04.10. Additional dates are added on request from minimum 2 persons between mid-December and April.

Dog Sledding Across Jämtland is a challenging 8-day dog sledding experience across the roof of Jämtland in north-west Sweden. Mushing your own dogsled team of four Siberian Huskies, you will cover between 25 and 50km each day (depending on terrain and weather conditions).

Accommodation along the route is 4 nights wild winter camping on the mountains, with 1 night in a mountain station for a taste of civilisation!

Dog Sledding in Swedish Lapland – new tour added

We have just added a new 8-day dog sledding tour to our portfolio for the 2009-2010 winter season, Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland.

The tour is a challenging but accessible extended dog sledding expedition in Swedish Lapland, 150km inside the Arctic Circle and an excellent location for viewing the Northern Lights.

You will be mushing your own team of Siberian Huskies through a winter wilderness of frozen rivers, lakes and forest, with accommodation in cabins along the way. All food and specialist winter clothing is included.

Northern Lights Dog Sledding in Lapland is available on consecutive weeks between 16th December 2009 and 3rd March 2010, including a special New Year tour. Mountain Biking in the Forests of Ostergotland – new tour added

We are pleased to announce the addition of our first MTB tour in Sweden to our portfolio – Mountain Biking in the Forests of Östergötland.

Starting right from Stockholm Skavsta airport (NYO), served by Ryanair from a number of points in the UK, this is a guided mountain biking tour taking in the forests and hills of Östergötland in eastern Sweden.

From your base at a comfortable local hostel, you will head out each day to discover some of the very best of what the region has to offer. Bikes and helmet are included.

Scheduled tours are Friday-Monday, making this an ideal mountain biking trip for a long weekend. Alternatively, groups of minimum 6 persons can book private tours by arrangement on other dates. Scheduled dates for the 2009 season are: 22.05-25.05.09, 24.07-27.07.09, 28.08-31.08.09. Price £463/person including full board.

A fairly high tempo is maintained for scheduled tours. Some previous experience of mountain biking and a good level of fitness are required.
